Classes

Besides the asanas (postures), and regardless of which Yoga style I teach, I like to include meditation, pranayama and mantras at the beginning or end of my classes. The main goal is to bring self-awareness to the practice, inviting the students to be at the present moment, clearing  their minds and thoughts.

In group classes, I always offer variations within a given posture, so that students can choose the best approach for their possibility at that moment.

It’s important to highlight that you don’t need to be flexible or strong, and that it doesn’t matter if you think you have a restless mind (we all do). Just be open to the practice, respect your own limits and the benefits will come. And don’t worry, there is no comparison between students, and there is no such thing as being “good” or “bad” at Yoga. Each person is totally unique and we all have our weaknesses and strengths. Just enjoy the journey!

Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa Yoga is an energizing and vigorous practice that connects creative sequences of postures through the breath, creating movement and flow. It improves flexibility and balance, builds up strength, and releases stress.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a gentle and passive practice, where you hold poses while trying not to engage the muscles. For that, the body is fully supported by props. The aim is to nourish and strengthen the “cold” parts of the body like the bones, ligaments, fascia and tendons through stretch or compression. It can be a very relaxing practice but quite challenging as well, as you hold each pose for 2-5 minutes. This practice not only has physical benefits but also acts at a subtler level, activating and unblocking energy channels (meridians), allowing information and nourishment to flow throughout the body. Yin yoga is great to balance more hectic days or a more active yoga practice; good to practice in the morning when the muscles are still cool, or at night to calm the mind and prepare for a good night’s sleep.

Yin Yang Yoga (or Yin Vin Yoga)

It’s a very interesting combination of both Vinyasa and Yin Yoga in the same class. Yin Yoga can be used at the begging of the class to work the joints and connective tissues while the muscles are still cold, or at the end of the class as a tool to lead to introspection and final meditation and relaxation.

Pregnancy and post-natal yoga

This class is designed to support and prepare women physical, mental and spiritually throughout the pregnancy and moment of birth, creating an atmosphere of peace and positive energy for the baby. Partners are more than welcome to join the class, as it can help creating a connection with the baby when she is still inside mommy’s belly.

Post-natal classes are designed to help new mothers to relax and have a peaceful moment. It also aims to strength the body as it slowly returns to its prepregnant state.

Yoga Therapy

It´s a gentle approach for those who have any health disorder and seek a more holistic treatment. These are disorders of the type: asthma, arthrosis, heart disorders, digestive, depression, obesity, menstrual disorder, among others.
